The Daily Grind: Is there an MMO-related phrase that sets your teeth on edge?

Of course there is, else I’d not have asked the question!

I had this realization the other day when I was looking at a certain MMO’s website, and right up top in the main navigation bar I saw the phrase “top-up center.” For those blissfully unaware, a lot of F2P and import games use the phrase “top-up” to refer to adding more RMT currency to the player account, usually as part of some discounted bundle (it depends on the game). I suppose you might use the term for your Starbucks card or your beer or your phone card or whatever normal humans do, and maybe in your corner of the world, you see it a lot! But I never really see the phrase in the real world outside of games nowadays.

And so I have an immediate negative reaction to seeing it. I’m not even in the game or in the cash shop, and it’s trying to get me to put money into my account on spec? Instant turn-off.
