As Fractured Online prepares to go offline for the rest of the year and then some under its new ownership with big plans for a revamp, that new ownership is answering players’ biggest questions about what the revamp will actually entail.

Happy Cauldron Games’ Duncan Davis spends most of this dev blog discussing the MMORPG’s crafting and resource systems: He explains that crafting is getting a new UI, that the process of crafting will be easier than it is now, that the devs will be expanding the wagon and caravan system, that crafting will see level-based item quality, that resource spawning will be revised to place rare resources in higher tiers, and that personal farming “to supply cooking & alchemy” is on the table.

Additionally, friendly fire mechanics are out, regional markets are in (but condensed to four faction town hubs), grouping will undergo a balancing pass, new loot drops will drive the player economy, and housing will not go untouched. “Absolutely housing is being improved upon along with decor options,” Davis vows. And as for armor upgrades…

“We are deciding on what changes either visual effects or armor changes. We first had to rebuild our character system to allow us from a tech perspective the ability to do these type of visual changes on specific pieces. We will share more of this system next week during our developer update.”
