Last January saw another addition to the arguably very crowded PvPvE extraction sub-genre in the form of Synduality: Echo of Ada, a mecha-based extraction shooter that puts players into machines known as Cradlecoffins (seriously) to scour maps, find goodies, and leave before they’re taken out by the baddies of the environment or other player mecha. The game arrived to some middling user reviews on Steam but otherwise didn’t make many waves.
So, how have things been going since launch? Well, additions are still going, as it readies Season 2: Punishing Land on Friday, May 23rd. The season will introduce three new maps in its initial launch, a new Magus, new weapons, and a new Cradlecoffin, while a mid-season update sometime in late June promises another new area, new quests, and more new mecha. There will also be some new anti-cheat updates for the Steam version, which were originally scheduled for April 30th but have been pushed back to Season 2.
Speaking of the Steam version, user reviews have tanked significantly on the platform, dropping into “mostly negative” overall, with players bemoaning boring combat and performance problems that mar the occasional solid PvP engagement. “Last time I have regret [sic] purchasing a game this much was Destiny 2,” reads one such acerbic review. Ouch.
