Embers Adrift’s debut on Steam this season following its payment processing struggles last year hasn’t entirely gone off without a hitch: Apparently, some players have run into problems with Steam screwing up their accounts and payments.
“Due to a recent issue with Steam’s payment processing system, some users have experienced account-related disruptions and unexpected transaction activity,” Stormhaven Studios explains, telling players it’s already working with Steam on the issue, issuing full refunds to everyone who subbed during the affected period “to ensure no one is negatively impacted.” Apparently it can’t issue refunds for a few of the accounts Steam burped on, so it’s crediting those accounts with sub time instead, although nobody should have an active sub to the game right now, which… was supposed to be the point of moving to Steam!
Honestly, this team just can’t catch a break. But you can: The team is giving everyone subscriber perks over the holiday weekend.
Source: Steam“[A]as a gesture of goodwill and appreciation for our community’s patience, we will be making all subscription perks free to access for everyone throughout the upcoming holiday weekend. If you use ‘Login with Steam’ your account will be granted all subscriber perks. To help prevent similar issues in the future, we are actively working on adding alternate payment options to give our users more flexibility and reliability when purchasing subscriber perks.”
