The full conversion over to Steam for sandbox MMORPG Embers Adrift has now effectively completed with the end of so-called “legacy logins” via the website. Players will now have to login through Steam exclusively to get their subscriber benefits; Stormhaven Studios has reminded players how to link accounts up.
As for more immediate updates to the game, it’s now offering its Unity 6 upgrade to the test server. The studio notes that this is mainly a technical test focused on the different dynamic resolution options on offer, but it also does point out that the engine update will yield overall better performance for players and a few new tools for devs to take advantage of.
Speaking of the dev server, multiple updates have been applied over the last week with another focus on performance: Improvements include visual changes for NPC abilities, better shaders for vegetation, multiple bug fixes, and some UI updates.
