Remember last year when Guild Wars 2 began testing its new PvP mode called Push? Our own PvP columnist Sam, who has been critical of the MMO’s PvP in the past, thought the test was messy and hampered by visual noise – but loaded with potential. So we’re happy to see that ArenaNet is back with another test for the mode that will hopefully address some of our concerns and “push” along the mode’s progress.
“Back in September, we hosted the first live beta for Push, featuring a rough prototype of the mode’s mechanics on a placeholder map,” the studio explained this week. “While the visuals and UI were in the early stages of development, the goal was to gauge community interest—and the response exceeded our expectations. Your enthusiasm and feedback gave us the confidence to move forward and invest in building Push into a fully realized game mode.”
The current test is already underway and runs through Memorial Day weekend and into next week, so players can already go take a peek at what’s changed since last year – and it’s a lot. Anet says it’s iterated on the old map with a “fresh coat of paint and a new theme,” with a new hovercart objective, updates to the secondary objective, mechanics from the Skyhammer conquest map, and the scoreboard.
