If you’re big on co-op dungeon runs, you’ll be happy to know that Fellowship is processing open beta feedback and planning for its next test at the end of May, which by definition means next week. Meanwhile, Lynked Banner of the Spark is done with testing as it has moved from early access into full launch, so that’s another possible co-op dungeoneering adventure for you.
Moving ahead, Splitgate has its open beta running now, and Tinkerlands has also hit early access. Tons of multiplayer action for fans of the not-a-full-MMORPG options out there, in other words! The MMORPG side is a bit quieter, but Guild Wars 2 is calling its latest test of the PvP Push mode a beta, even though for a launched game that’s not really a “beta” except for calling it that. You’re lucky you’re pretty, GW2.
Is our list of games in testing just below pretty? It would certainly like it if you said it was pretty. Well, actually, it won’t feel anything; it’s just a list of games in testing. But we’d like it if you tell us it’s pretty. Or if you tell us if something slipped into another test stage without our noticing. That’s actually more important than the pretty thing, to be honest.

We consider an MMO to be in open testing if it features free, public signups and will server wipe prior to launch. An MMO is marked in closed testing if it’s running a private test phase that cannot freely be accessed by the general public; it’s often under NDA as well. Early access and crowdfunded MMOs whose tests we deem legitimate will be included. So-called “open beta” soft-launch MMOs with cash shops, no sign of launch in the west, or limited interest for our readers will not be listed, nor will games that are NFT/blockchain scams; we also do not list expansions, with occasional exceptions. Finally, we’ll mark games “malingering” if they’ve been in a certain tier of development for a long time with no clear path to launch.

Yes, MMO gamers, you too can perform the unpaid quality-control work otherwise known as game testing! Check out Massively Overpowered’s Betawatch every week for a run-down of MMOs that are still on the road to launch, even if they appear to have set up a permanent residence in a shed called early access.
