If you were worried that Pantheon would ever reach any form of release, before or after the untimely passing of Brad McQuaid, we’re happy to report that you can stop worrying as the game’s early access has finally begun, and while it does not contain everything scheduled for the title, it’s still available for play! You can jump in and give it a whirl if that’s your jam.
Meanwhile, Ship of Heroes is eyeing a release date in 2025, which may also be seen as a long-unexpected release. Pax Dei has added in its shopping center update, so you can finally shop until you drop. Or until someone drops. There’s no need for you personally to drop; other people can drop for you (that’s capitalism). Last but not least, the PvPvE extraction shooter Synduality: Echoes of Ada is running its network test now through December 19th, with the full launch still planned for January 13th on 2025.
Bree also said that I’m not allowed to talk about the complete non-update put out by a game I can’t mention (well, more the concept of a game than a game, but still), so instead we’ll just move on to the full roundup of beta news as well as our full list of games in testing. Let us know if something slipped into a new test phase without us noticing! We’d appreciate it.

We consider an MMO to be in open testing if it features free, public signups and will server wipe prior to launch. An MMO is marked in closed testing if it’s running a private test phase that cannot freely be accessed by the general public; it’s often under NDA as well. Early access and crowdfunded MMOs whose tests we deem legitimate will be included. So-called “open beta” soft-launch MMOs with cash shops, no sign of launch in the west, or limited interest for our readers will not be listed, nor will games that are NFT/blockchain scams; we also do not list expansions, with occasional exceptions. Finally, we’ll mark games “malingering” if they’ve been in a certain tier of development for a long time with no clear path to launch.

Yes, MMO gamers, you too can perform the unpaid quality-control work otherwise known as game testing! Check out Massively Overpowered’s Betawatch every week for a run-down of MMOs that are still on the road to launch, even if they appear to have set up a permanent residence in a shed called early access.
