It’s hard to believe we’re already a week and change away from the launch of The Elder Scrolls Online’s Seasons of the Worm Cult launch, but the calendar just keeps barreling onward, and now ZeniMax Online Studios is deep-diving Western Solstice, the first half of the island players will be visiting – an island the Elder Scrolls franchise has never fleshed out before. And on the surface, it looks like summer vacation! But no.
“You can find this island in the waters south of Black Marsh, positioned somewhat similarly to the Summerset Isles but much farther east, and it features echoes of both regions,” the devs say. “While you’ll recognize plenty in Solstice, when it comes to its familiar cultures, the zone offers a twist.” That means a mix of both High Elf and Argonian culture, including a new Argonian culture called the Tide-Born, though it’s during a time of relative peace between the groups, and the problem you’ll be tackling is the Worm Cult’s threat.
The dev blog also teases new and returning characters, as well as new enemies and a carnival (yes, really). Here’s zone lead Jason Barnes:
Source: Official site. Cheers, Yrys!“Keep an eye out for a wild carnival packed with zany hijinks—it’s hard to miss thanks to its massive, colorful tents and the strange oddities that surround it. […] If you’re looking for something with a spookier edge, make your way to the haunted Corelanya Manor. There, you’ll uncover the deeper lore behind House Corelanya and its long, mysterious ties to the island of Solstice. There are also several fun hidden achievements scattered throughout the zone for players to discover, offering some extra surprises for those who love to explore every corner.”
