The wave of gaming industry layoffs continues.
The games industry saw more than 10,000 workers laid off in 2023, and unfortunately, the heartbreaking trend is continuing at the top of 2024.
These layoffs follow a rocky period for the company last year after it attempted to introduce controversial per-install fees to developers using its game engine.
These layoffs arrive just over three months after Microsoft spent $69 billion to acquire Call of Duty maker Activision Blizzard.
Perhaps don't count Microsoft out of the console game just yet.
That equates to roughly 5 percent of the company's workforce.
This marks the second round of mass layoffs in under a year.
