Mt. Doom must have frozen over because Lord of the Rings Online is actually opening up the many-times-delayed Sting 64-bit server today. And that’s just the tip of Update 44.2, which is hitting the worlds during the Wednesday downtime.

Play LOTRO for freeWith the patch, SSG claims that it has corrected issues with kinship escrows and premium house storage losing items during the transfers to the new worlds. This comes with a serious caveat, however:

“These changes REQUIRE players to log into their current game world prior to further transfers. Failing to do so will permanently disassociate missing items from your game account, and customer support will not be able to assist. Therefore, it is extremely important that players log into a game world once this fix is in place prior to any further transfers. We also always recommend that players log into a character on their origin world prior to transfer when possible.”

Update 44.2 also activated the 14th legendary items reward track, which will continue until August 20th, and added Tier 3 difficulty to Dun Shûma, the King’s Fortress.
